Tees Valley Youth for Christ

Tees Valley Youth for Christ are seeking to employ an Outreach Minister to coordinate mission outreach projects from March 2020.

The post-holder will work throughout the Tees Valley and further afield to facilitate Christian outreach projects and events for children and young people, in partnership with churches and other Christian organisations. This will include facilitating opportunities for young people to experience Christian mission as well as fulfilling the mission of Tees Valley Youth for Christ by sharing the Christian message with young people.

The role will suit a person who is highly self-motivated, organised and an effective communicator.  

Hours: 16 per week worked flexibly over 6 days.

Term: Fixed 3 years

Salary: Self funded – £7488 per annum minimum, dependant on personal fundraising.

This role requires that the post holder works towards raising their own salary costs through personal fundraising and developing a team of partners to support them in their work within Tees Valley Youth for Christ. We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude towards this requirement, given support and training.

Candidates applying for this role will be expected to comply with safer recruitment initiatives, including a self-disclosure of any criminal history. The position is dependent on suitable references, a satisfactory DBS check and attendance at regular safeguarding training.

There is an occupational requirement that the role holder is a committed Christian in accordance with Part 1 of Schedule 9 of The Equality Act 2010.

Job Description

Title: Outreach Minister

Job Summary: To coordinate and promote Christian mission outreach work.

Reporting to: The Director, Tees Valley Youth for Christ

Main Duties

Be the first point of contact for mission outreach projects including liaising with churches and other Christian organisations to arrange events, plan resources, undertake all necessary administration tasks and deliver training.

Develop and manage teams of volunteers to assist in all areas of Christian outreach work.

Build relationships with children and young people with the aim of deepening their Christian faith, including pastoral support

Lead worship events for local youth workers.

Fulfil the mission of Tees Valley Youth for Christ by taking the good news relevantly to young people with the mission of seeing young people’s lives changed by Jesus.

Attend Tees Valley Youth for Christ weekly meetings, training and National Conference.

Promote the work of Tees Valley Youth for Christ and encourage individuals and churches to partner with us financially and through prayer support.

The nature of the role will require commitment outside of normal office hours including evenings and weekends.

Key Skills

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Christian outreach work is essential.
  • Passionate about mission and have an understanding and experience of coordinating and delivering Christian mission projects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work alone and use initiative, and to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Highly organised.
  • Flexible and adaptable to working with different personality types and in different contexts.
  • Ability to organise and motivate a team of volunteers.

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint.
  • A certificate in First Aid is desirable

Christian Youth Worker

Tees Valley Youth for Christ are seeking to appoint a Christian Youth Worker for Great Ayton, Stokesley and the surrounding area. The post-holder will support the local churches with their youth work and develop new youth work where none currently exists. There is also an expectation that the port-holder will develop links with local schools and offer support where required. The role will suit a person who is highly self-motivated, organised and a good communicator. A minimum of 1 year experience in youth ministry is desirable as is a full clean driving licence.  

Hours: 20 per week worked flexibly over 6 days.

Salary: £9672 per annum

Location: Great Ayton in North Yorkshire and the surrounding area.

Contract: Fixed Term 2 years (probationary period 4 months)

Job Description

Title: Youth Worker

Job Summary: To deliver, promote and develop Christian Youth Work in Great Ayton and the surrounding area.

Reporting to: The Director, Tees Valley Youth for Christ

Location: Great Ayton in North Yorkshire, and the surrounding area

 

Main Duties

Assess the current youth ministry in the area, identify needs and initiate new work.

Work directly with local churches to provide high quality youth work, by working alongside established teams of volunteers or initiating youth work in churches where none currently exists.

Develop links with local primary and secondary schools to offer support, for example by leading assemblies, supporting RE lessons and helping with lunchtime and afterschool clubs.

Establish a monthly Café Church.

Fulfil the mission of Tees Valley Youth for Christ by taking the good news relevantly to young people in the Tees Valley and seeing young people’s lives changed by Jesus.

Build relationships with children and young people with the aim of deepening their Christian faith, including mentoring.

Attend Tees Valley Youth for Christ weekly meetings, training and National Conference.

Promote the work of Tees Valley Youth for Christ and encourage individuals and churches to partner with us financially and through prayer support.

Communicate regularly with partners and local churches, providing updates about the ministry through newsletters etc.

The nature of the role will require commitment outside of normal office hours including evenings and weekends.
