Youth & Children’s Worker – St Mary’s Church, Norton, Stockton-on-Tees

Applications are invited for the post of Youth and Children’s Worker at St Mary’s Church, Norton. The post-holder will be responsible for overseeing the children’s and youth ministry at St Mary’s Church in Norton, Stockton-on-Tees. The role will suit a person who is organised, an effective communicator, and confident in leading a small team of volunteers. A minimum of 3 years experience in youth ministry is essential for this role.

Hours: 16 per week
Salary: £9 per hour
Location: St Mary’s Church, Norton
Contract: Fixed term 2 years

Job Summary: To coordinate and lead the youth and children’s work at St Mary’s Church in Norton

Salary: £9.00 per hour

Contract: Fixed term 2 years

Main Duties

Work directly with children and young people age 3 – 18 within the parish of St Mary’s Norton, deepening their Christian discipleship and growth.

Manage all admin relating to the running of youth and children’s sessions and clubs including consent forms, registration etc.
Develop and manage a team of volunteers to assist in all areas of children and youth work.

Coordinate, plan and deliver Sunday morning sessions with children from Reception age to Year 5 and Sunday evening youth sessions.

Lead regular Friday evening children’s and youth clubs, which will include planning and delivering the sessions and liaising with and coordinating volunteers.

Develop existing school’s links by delivering assemblies, Christian lunch clubs, Christian Unions and supporting the teaching of RE lessons.

Build relationships with children and young people with the aim of deepening their Christian faith, including mentoring.

Find opportunities to take young people to Christian based youth camps and/or residential and carry out all necessary planning and organisation.

Key Skills
• Minimum 3 years experience in Christian youth and children’s work
• Passionate about youth and children’s work and have an understanding and experience of working with young people from a variety of backgrounds.

• Ability to design and produce high quality publicity material to attract parents, children and young people to events etc
• A certificate in First Aid is desirable
• Good knowledge of Safeguarding and risk assessment.
